About the Role

UMO is one of the UK's leading providers of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) mentoring, mental health mentoring and coaching in higher and further education. We work with over 70 universities and colleges, delivering DSA-funded mentoring that helps students succeed, stay in education and thrive academically and personally.

We are recruiting
Specialist ASC Mentors in Manchester
to provide one-to-one, in-person support for autistic students at undergraduate and postgraduate level. You'll help students overcome challenges, build independence, and develop strategies that support their studies and wellbeing.

This is a
flexible, term-time role
offering competitive pay, CPD, and clinical supervision.

Responsibilities

* Provide one-to-one mentoring for autistic students in higher education
* Support students to manage the impact of autism and ADHD on study and daily life
* Help with organisation, time management and study strategies
* Promote resilience, independence and wellbeing
* Encourage personal responsibility and life skills development
* Monitor wellbeing and assess risk where necessary
* Liaise with universities, GPs and other professionals when appropriate
* Maintain records and confidentiality in line with GDPR

Requirements

* Honours degree in any subject
* Eligibility under DfE's Mandatory Criteria for Band 4 Specialist Mentor – Autism Spectrum Conditions (SM-ASC)
* Minimum 3 years' experience working with autistic young people or adults
* Knowledge of practical strategies for supporting ASC and ADHD
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Commitment to disability equity and inclusive education
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Experience working with diverse and multicultural communities

Hours

Minimum 25 per week during term time
