Overview of the Role
Working closely with the IT Operations Centre Management, the Security Operations Manager will oversee the day‑to‑day operation of the 2nd/3rd line IT Support Service for security‑related items. The role will be based in one of our Global IT Operations Centres – either Newcastle or Bengaluru – and will focus on ensuring that security threats are managed and prevented, maintaining high levels of customer service and adhering to company policies and procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Include
* Manage and monitor operational security activities covering OLAs and SLTs in line with our KPIs.
* Establish and enforce security protocols, policies, and procedures to protect lives and property.
* Educate employees on emergency response actions and ensure safety regulations are followed.
* Apply ITIL methodology to handle incidents, prioritise tasks, and resolve issues promptly.
* Assess incidents, formulate strategies to prevent future occurrences, and conduct service review activities to drive continual improvement.
* Recommend measures to prevent future security breaches and strengthen the security of the Mott MacDonald IT estate.
* Lead and manage a team of security analysts, assign tasks, and ensure productivity.
* Inspire and guide team members to achieve goals and maintain a positive, collaborative work environment.
* Deliver outstanding customer experience by focusing on employee needs, providing timely resolutions, and maintaining clear and regular communication within the agreed SLAs.
Candidate Specification
Essential
* Experience managing people and high‑performing teams.
* Knowledge of basic IT security threats and principles (Malware, Phishing, Vulnerabilities).
* Experience with IT security tools (Tenable IO, Nessus, Defender, Microsoft security consoles, Zscaler, SIEM, etc.).
* Experience handling issues related to permissions, security access, and Active Directory.
* Experience resolving security incidents in Microsoft cloud and Windows operating system environments.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Exceptional customer service skills.
Desirable
* Graduate or equivalent qualification in an IT‑related discipline.
* Knowledge of ITIL Service Management best practices.
* Experience using ServiceNow or Remedy (or equivalent).
* ITIL V3/V4 foundation certification.
* Experience working in a global organisation.
