Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) - Transition Pool

This role is ideal for nurses who enjoy variety, thrive in dynamic environments, and want to broaden their horizons across acute care, rehabilitation, behavioral support, or new challenges. The Transition Pool provides a structured onboarding with an 8-week orientation designed to set you up for success.
Responsibilities
* Provision of care for patients within an interprofessional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching and education.
* Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgement necessary for care of acute medical patients.
* Teaching and coaching to patients and families.
* Maintains nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards.
* Practicing in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy and procedures, professional regulatory standards and best practices within the nursing profession.
* Maintaining professional competence by completing regular professional development including annual training and education as indicated.
* Participates in unit/department and hospital quality improvement initiatives.
* Adheres to a safe and healthy workplace and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards and adherence to health and safety related policy and procedures.
* Adapts and adheres to the values of QH while promoting and advocating for an enhanced patient experience.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
* Current CPR, BLS, or BCLS certificate.
* Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) available to review)
Physical Demands
* Strength: Required sporadically – average under 30 pounds lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling. In extreme emergency – 100 pounds.
* Mobility: Required often – standing; frequently – sitting, walking on hard floor surface; occasionally - stooping, lateral bending, foot activation, kneeling, bending; rarely - crouching, squatting.
* Dexterity: Required frequently – reaching with hands, reaching above shoulder, fine finger movement, foot action, pinching, gripping/grasping, eye/hand coordination.
