Our client is seeking a Payroll Team Leader to oversee the daily administration of the payroll system, procedures, and service delivery, ensuring compliance with statutory, legal, and contractual requirements. The role involves ensuring accurate payments processed within the agreed timescales on a monthly basis.
Key responsibilities of the Payroll Team Leader include:
* Supervising the Payroll Team to ensure all staff (all monthly paid) are paid accurately, and payslips, statutory returns, and reports are produced and validated promptly.
* Serving as a point of escalation for internal queries from the Payroll Team and other related issues.
* Managing workload allocation across the Payroll & Pensions Officers, providing coverage during leave periods, and ensuring sufficient resources during peak times.
* Administering multiple pension schemes, ensuring all transactions are reported properly, and queries from pension administrators are addressed timely.
* Ensuring compliance with statutory and pension scheme requirements, such as monthly pension returns and auto-enrollment.
* Processing monthly payroll, including post-payroll reporting and general ledger uploads.
* Preparing and reconciling month-end payments and returns (HMRC, pension administrators, etc.).
* Collaborating with internal and external auditors and providing necessary information.
* Staying updated on relevant regulations and legislation, and sharing this knowledge with the team.
* Working closely with other operational teams within the division to ensure efficient processes and contribute to service improvements.
* Collaborating with the Payroll Manager to develop payroll services and identify efficiency opportunities.
* Deputising for the Payroll Manager as needed.
* Performing other duties and projects as assigned by the Payroll Manager.
