Ambulance Care Assistant – Mental Health
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Ambulance Care Assistant (Secure Mental Health) to join our team based in Guildford, Surrey. You will support the police and other professionals with transporting service users to and from healthcare facilities. This role may involve working alone or with a team; a full UK driving licence is required.

Main Duties
* Work as part of a team to support the service user on board.
* Ensure the vehicle is safely and responsibly driven.
* Assist service users with challenging behaviour and/or mental health illnesses.
* Support challenging service users who may need physical intervention.
* Transport vulnerable service users between hospitals, homes, prisons and medical care settings with police and other professionals.
* Liaise with hospital staff and police for safe conveyance.
* Lift, secure and aid service users in and out of the ambulance.
* Hand over service users to appropriate staff at treatment centres/hospitals.
* Transfer service users from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs, or similar in and out of hospital and medical flights.
* Maintain ambulance safety, cleanliness and tidiness.
Successful Candidate Profile
* Full manual UK driving licence with no more than six penalty points.
* Committed to patient care and able to build rapport with patients.
* Excellent communication skills, capable of managing emotional and difficult situations.
* Calm, considerate, careful driver.
* Flair for teamwork and collaboration.
* Physically fit for patient handling, moving and occasional restraint.
* Able to problem‑solve and recognise key changes in patient behaviour during demanding situations.
