Overview
We have a fantastic opportunity for a one year fixed term Assessing Social Worker to join our Kinship Assessment team. We have a supportive and very busy team covering Kinship Assessments from the beginning of the process with Initial Viability Assessments through to full friends and family assessments, for care that can progress into fostering or permanence options (including SGO and CAO).
Responsibilities
* Develop social work knowledge and skills within the specialised area of Kinship.
* Support young people to remain in the care of their families wherever it is safe to do so.
* Undertake detailed family-focused assessments and engage and build positive relationships.
* Work as part of a fast-paced and dynamic team.
* Work with kinship carers, foster carers, connected / kinship carers, and/or adopter households; prepare Court reports as required.
Qualifications
* Social Work Qualification; BA/MA/DipSW/CSS/CQSW. Registered with Social Work England.
* Number of years of post-qualification experience within a statutory social work setting, with experience of detailed and comprehensive assessments and risk assessments.
* Post-qualifying experience of working within Children's Social Care and in fostering and/or adoption services.
* Experience of assessment work with foster carers, connected/kinship carers, and/or adopter households. Experience of writing Court reports.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and in-depth knowledge of National Minimum Standards, Statutory Regulations and Guidance relating to Kinship care, fostering, SGO and CAO.
* Knowledge of the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and how to care for children affected to promote recovery and resilience.
* Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally; prioritise and work under pressure; meet strict timescales; work professionally with families and other professionals; work as part of a team; demonstrate flexibility, persistence, and resourcefulness.
