RF Test Technician
12 months Inside IR35 – Glenrothes (on site work) – BPSS only
You’ll carry out functional testing, tuning, and diagnostics on a range of electronic and RF products, including both new-build units and repairs. The role involves component‑level fault‑finding, maintaining accurate test documentation, supporting maintenance activities, and working closely with engineering and production teams to improve product quality, cost efficiency, and overall test performance.
Main Duties
* Perform functional testing of electronic assemblies in line with contractual, quality, and schedule requirements.
* Diagnose faults on boards and units down to component level and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
* Identify and resolve test equipment–related issues.
* Execute preventative maintenance and calibration activities for test equipment.
* Maintain accurate test records and produce yield and failure reports when required.
* Support engineering teams with investigations, trials, and improvement initiatives.
* Contribute to continuous improvement activities within designated test areas to enhance efficiency and product quality.
Experience required
* Minimum of HNC in Electronics or equivalent relevant experience.
* Ability to tune circuitry to meet performance specifications.
* Proven capability in setting up and using a wide range of laboratory and test equipment, including complex instrumentation.
* Strong understanding of electronic principles, with both theoretical and practical knowledge of circuitry.
* Able to interpret circuit diagrams and explain circuit functionality clearly.
* Confident in interpreting test specifications and carrying out manual production test and debug activities.
* Able to work to production schedules while maintaining product quality and meeting contractual requirements.
Desirable
* Understanding of the principles and controls required when working with RF circuitry.
* Experience testing and diagnosing complex electronic products down to component level.
* Familiarity with a range of ATE (Automated Test Equipment) systems.
* A confident, self‑starting approach with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Strong communication skills, able to work effectively across multiple disciplines.
* Flexibility in working hours, including the potential for shift work
