Are you a Band 6 Practice Nurse looking for an exciting role, which offers numerous benefits and opportunities, working alongside military and civilian healthcare professionals and operational staff. If the answer is yes, then we are looking to appoint a professional and patient focussed individual with a strong commitment to providing a high-quality service to work within our team at East of Scotland Combined Medical Practice. The Combined Practice consists of Leuchars Medical Centre, where the position is primarily based, and Condor Medical Centre. The Band 6 Practice Nurse will be expected to cross-cover across the Combined Practice where required, with detached duty to Condor being compensated as per Business Travel Policy.

The Band 6 Practice Nurse will have line management responsibilities of the Band 5 Nurse and Band 3 Healthcare Assistant.

The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team delivering primary healthcare nursing (within a families practice) including elements of occupational health, working with the Senior Nursing Officer (SNO) or Senior Medical Officer (SMO) across the East of Scotland Combined Medical Practice (EoS CMP), and will be a focal point for Primary Health Care nursing issues within their scope of practice.

Depending upon qualifications and experience the post holder will be responsible for the delivery of appropriate assessment treatment, screening, and advice to patients within their professional competence and in accordance with Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) clinical guidelines and protocols.

Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:

The post holder will provide high-quality person-centred care which always considers peoples safety, privacy and dignity using advanced clinical knowledge that is evidence based.
Undertake technical nursing treatments and procedures for patients (e.g., wound care, sutures removal, Electrocardiogram (ECGs).
Assist with health and well-being clinics (e.g., smoking cessation, weight management, alcohol misuse) using health promotion, health education, screening and therapeutic communication skills.
Being responsible for the delivery of appropriate treatment, screening, and advice to patients within their professional competence and in accordance with DPHC clinical guidelines and protocols.
Providing specialist advice and support to patients, their families and other healthcare professionals following assessment, diagnosis and throughout treatment.

Qualifications
Degree, diploma or appropriate training as recognised by professional body (NMC/HCPC etc) in a relevant area.

Memberships
Registered Nurse - on Part 1 of the NMC Register.
Current registration with the NMC.
You are required to be registered with the relevant professional body, as detailed in the advert, prior to submitting your application.

Desirable Criteria

Must be in date for Basic life Support (BLS), Anaphylaxis, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), Infection Prevention and Controls (IPC), Safeguarding Level 3 (Children and Adult - depending on population at risk) or willingness to undertake training.

Willingness to undertake specific training to fulfil competency for role (e.g. audiometry, ear care, minor illness/injury, physical assessment and history taking, travel health) and DPHC/MOD training as appropriate.

To be proficient in relevant Information Technology (IT) systems subject to appropriate training being provided.
