Where you'll be working?
As HSSE Manager, you'll be the driving force behind our health, safety, environmental, and security strategy. You'll provide leadership, governance, and expert guidance to ensure legal compliance and continuous improvement in safety culture and performance. This is a high-impact role where you'll work closely with clients, regulators, and senior leaders to deliver safe, sustainable, and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
 * Develop and implement the contract HSSE plan aligned with company and client objectives.
 * Provide visible leadership across all project sites.
 * Coach and support senior leaders and project managers to embed safety into every stage of delivery.
Compliance & Governance
 * Ensure full compliance with HSE legislation (e.g., CDM 2015) and industry standards.
 * Lead audits, regulator visits, and certification processes (ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
 * Maintain and improve policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.
Risk & Assurance
 * Oversee risk management for high-risk activities (e.g., confined spaces, lifting, excavation).
 * Monitor performance through audits, inspections, and data analysis.
 * Lead investigations and ensure lessons learned are embedded.
People Development
 * Manage and mentor HSSE Advisors, supporting their professional growth.
 * Deliver training and coaching to operational teams.
 * Champion behavioural safety and cultural change initiatives like It Starts With Me.
Reporting & Client Engagement
 * Prepare and present HSSE performance reports to directors and clients.
 * Represent the company at client forums and industry groups.
 * Act as the main point of contact for client HSSE teams and regulators.
Continuous Improvement
 * Identify trends and innovations to enhance HSSE performance.
 * Lead divisional and group-wide initiatives.
 * Support the integration of digital tools for reporting and analysis.
What We're Looking For
 * NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent)
 * NEBOSH Diploma (or working towards)
 * Chartered Member of IOSH (or working towards)
 * Proven experience in a similar HSSE leadership role within construction, utilities, or infrastructure
 * Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
 * Inspirational leadership with a hands‑on approach
 * Excellent communication and data analysis skills
 * Commercial awareness and strategic thinking
Desirable
 * IEMA Certificate/Diploma in Environmental Management
 * Recognised incident investigation training (e.g., TOPSET, TapRoot)
 * Experience with digital safety tools and Microsoft 365
