JOB TITLE: Criminal Defence Paralegal

THE ROLE:
The firm is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Paralegal to join a dynamic and growing team, providing essential support to Solicitors across a broad range of criminal defence matters. The role also offers the opportunity to assist with prosecution cases on behalf of regulatory bodies and local authorities.
You will support the firm’s Solicitors throughout the full lifecycle of general criminal defence cases, as well as assist with prosecution work. Prior experience is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Key responsibilities include drafting legal documents, liaising with clients, conducting legal research, preparing court bundles and attending client meetings and court hearings. This is an office based role within a collaborative and supportive team environment. The position offers excellent career progression opportunities, including the potential to secure a training contract and pursue further legal qualifications.
THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year’s experience working within criminal law and will be highly organised, proactive and committed to building a long-term career in this area. You will be able to manage a varied caseload, work effectively under pressure and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently and professionally with clients, Solicitors, counsel and external agencies. A willingness to learn, a positive attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential. Paralegals with Police Station Accreditation are strongly encouraged to apply, although this is not essential. Support will be provided for candidates who wish to obtain accreditation, alongside ongoing training and professional development.
