Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Engineering Research Support Office for a Research Impact and Engagement Manager, who will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Engineering's portfolio of world‑class research. The Department is the largest in the University, presenting exciting opportunities to work with very large academic and research communities. The Research Support Office is a fast‑paced, dynamic environment where every day is different. The current team has established a reputation for delivering high workloads and quality of service, implementing process changes and working collaboratively internally and across the university.
Responsibilities
* Deliver and implement the Department's knowledge exchange and engagement strategy activities: identifying new industry partners; working with businesses to develop research opportunities; supporting academics in sustaining research impact and knowledge exchange; promoting translation of research outputs into commercial propositions.
* Provide commercial and intellectual property management advice and guidance.
* Provide guidance and best practice to colleagues in impact roles in the School.
* Engage with the Department's six academic divisions, spending around 50% of time out among relevant research communities.
Qualifications
* Education: Degree level or equivalent practical experience.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, liaison with academia and industry.
* Strong project management and communication skills.
* Desire to drive change, with experience in research grants administration and contract negotiations.
* Enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment and takes lead.
