Head of Business Assurance Location: London Salary: £65,000–£75,000 £6k car allowance, private medical package We’re working with a specialist engineering contractor delivering mechanical, electrical, fire and communications solutions across major UK infrastructure projects, including rail, highways, power and tunnelling. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced assurance and compliance professional to lead the company’s approach to Business Assurance, Governance and Continuous Improvement. You’ll play a key role in shaping and maintaining a robust, digitally enabled Business Management System, ensuring compliance across multiple ISO standards and driving a culture of excellence, safety and integrity throughout the organisation. The Role As Head of Business Assurance, you’ll oversee integrated management systems, ISO certifications and operational licences, while leading a high-performing team responsible for quality, audit, risk and compliance across all projects and functions. Key responsibilities: * Develop and maintain a digital Business Management System covering Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety and Information Security. * Ensure continued certification to ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 45003 and 27001. * Manage external accreditations and licences such as RISQS, HERS, FORS, Achilles UVDB, NICEIC and FIRAS. * Lead internal and external audit programmes and compliance schedules. * Promote a culture of learning, improvement and “safety-first”. * Support senior leaders with assurance, governance and risk management. * Lead, develop and mentor the Business Assurance team. About You You’ll be an accomplished assurance or compliance leader with a strong understanding of ISO systems, risk management and digital assurance tools. Confident at both strategic and operational levels, you’ll engage effectively across all areas of the business. Essential: * Lead Auditor certification (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 or 27001). * Diploma-level qualification in Quality Management and/or Health & Safety. * Proven experience in a senior assurance, compliance or quality leadership role. * Experience developing and maintaining business management systems. * Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Desirable: * Chartered CQI, IOSH or IIRSM membership. * Experience in construction or infrastructure sectors. * Working knowledge of NEC contracts. * Experience developing digital assurance platforms (Asite, CDEs, etc.).
