Mid-Level Android Developer – Hybrid – up to £550 per day Outside IR35 | Kotlin | Jetpack Compose | FinTech
A renowned, funded and profitable challenger bank is looking for a Mid-Level Android Developer to join their mobile engineering team. The business offers a flexible current account product with features such as expense categorisation, instant payment notifications, and clear, accessible financial insights.
Fully integrated with a mobile app, users can manage account settings, freeze or unfreeze cards, and set savings goals directly from their phone.
Location: London City
Hybrid: 2–3 days onsite per week
Day Rate: Up to £500 per day Outside IR35
The Role
As a Mid-Level Android Developer, you will contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of the Android application, working within an established architecture and alongside senior engineers. You'll help deliver new features, improve existing functionality, and maintain a clean, scalable codebase aligned with modern Android best practices.
You'll work extensively with Kotlin and modern Android frameworks, contributing to technical discussions and implementing solutions that prioritise performance, maintainability, and user experience. While you won't be responsible for defining the overall architecture, you'll be expected to understand patterns such as MVVM and Clean Architecture and apply them effectively in your day-to-day development work.
Tech Stack
Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android SDK, Coroutines, Flow, Hilt/Dagger, Retrofit, Room, GraphQL, JUnit, Espresso
You have solid commercial experience building and shipping Android applications using Kotlin and modern Android tooling. You're comfortable working across the full application lifecycle, from feature development through to release, and have a good understanding of Play Store processes.
You write clean, testable code and actively participate in code reviews and technical conversations. You enjoy collaborating with backend, product, and design teams to deliver high-quality, user-focused mobile experiences, and you're motivated to continue developing your architectural knowledge and technical depth within a fast-paced FinTech environment.
