About the Role
Are you looking for a role where your clinical expertise genuinely makes a difference? Join a service where compassion, collaboration and professional growth are truly valued. Our Community Adult Speech & Language Therapy Team offers the opportunity to work with a diverse and rewarding caseload, shape community practice, and be part of a supportive team that prioritises your ideas, your wellbeing, and your development.
We are looking for a motivated Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to work across the Wakefield and district community, delivering high‑quality care for adults with communication and swallowing needs. You will work across a range of settings including patients’ homes, nursing and residential care, and outpatient clinics. You will manage a varied, clinically rewarding caseload, including stroke, brain injury, progressive neurological conditions, dementia, and respiratory presentations. You will join a skilled and welcoming team who are passionate about delivering excellent patient care.
If you enjoy autonomous working, varied clinical presentations, and the opportunity to build meaningful therapeutic relationships in community settings, this could be the perfect next step for you. Prospective applicants are warmly invited to visit the team.
The Adult SLT service at Mid Yorkshire is dynamic, supportive and committed to high‑quality care. You will receive regular supervision, CPD opportunities and access to in‑house learning and CPDs. Our service offers Ampcare, EMST and Videofluoroscopy and FEES assessment. Internal exposure to these specialist areas may be available depending on service capacity and needs, with opportunities to observe and gain referrer‑level skills and knowledge where appropriate.
This role also involves supporting the design and delivery of training within community settings – such as care homes and partner organisations, to enhance knowledge, promote safe practice and support the wider workforce, alongside the Community Clinical Lead and other community colleagues.
You will also have opportunities to supervise Band 5 SLTs and students, contribute to service development work, and develop leadership skills through involvement in quality improvement and audit.
We are a friendly, supportive and highly skilled team who live the Mid Yorkshire values and are proud of the service we provide.
