About the Role
The CTCCS is a joint NHS and Police Mental Health Team which facilitates information sharing with local mental health services for individuals who have come to the attention of Counter Terrorism Policing and who are thought to either present a risk of serious harm or have safeguarding, welfare or treatment needs in the context of mental disorder.
This role involves working alongside psychiatry, psychology, nursing, social work and police officers. The successful candidate will need significant experience within forensic mental health settings, including custody and/or secure hospital and/or community forensic services, with an understanding of relevant Mental Health and Social Care legislation and its application.
The post requires a security clearance to NPPV3 SC; please note this is a formal requirement and can take in excess of six months from submitting the vetting application.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide high quality liaison, assessment and management plans to the referring agencies.
* Gather information on referrals, participate in MDT risk stratification and agree an onward pathway, liaising with stakeholders.
* Act as a forensic mental health expert to policing colleagues and hold a caseload within the team, providing advice and consultation alongside a clinical formulation of the main concerns in a case and to stakeholders.
* Ensure the highest level of information governance and that Trust and/or any other registration body requirements and values are adhered to at all times.
* Travel to other sites within the service, including overnight stays on occasion.
Qualifications & Experience
* Significant experience within forensic mental health settings (custody, secure hospital, community forensic services).
* Knowledge of mental health and social care legislation and its application.
* Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and in high‑pressure environments.
* Commitment to maintaining information governance and regulatory compliance.
Other Information
This position is part of the National CTCCS service. The post holder will be part of a team of NHS & Counter Terrorism Police staff and will collaborate closely with them.
