An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Locally Employed Doctor (LED) – Obstetrics & Gynaecology (ST1-2 equivalent) within the Maternity & Women's Services Directorate at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This post offers the opportunity to work within a busy, consultant-led Obstetrics & Gynaecology service, delivering high-quality care across obstetric and gynaecology pathways while developing clinical competencies aligned to early specialty training. The role is suitable for doctors seeking further experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, including future specialty training or CESR pathways.
The post holder will work as part of the junior Obstetrics & Gynaecology medical team, providing safe and effective care to women across inpatient, outpatient and emergency settings under appropriate supervision.
Duties include:
* Contributing to antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, supporting labour ward activity, and participating in the assessment and management of acute and elective gynaecology patients.
* Taking part in daily ward rounds, multidisciplinary handovers and safety briefings, and recognising clinical deterioration and escalating appropriately.
* Full participation in the junior Obstetrics & Gynaecology on-call rota, including nights, weekends and bank holidays, in line with Trust and departmental policies.
* Providing clinical care across obstetrics and gynaecology services, including antenatal clinics, labour ward, postnatal wards, emergency gynaecology and early pregnancy services; assisting in theatres and outpatient clinics as appropriate to experience and service need.
* Participation in clinical governance activities, audit and quality improvement, and engagement with mandatory training and departmental teaching. Although this is a non-training post, the post holder will be supported to develop competencies aligned to ST1-2 level and to maintain a professional development portfolio.
