We have an exciting opportunity for a band 6 Sister/Charge nurse on ward21, to cover maternity leave.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated nurse to jointhe team.
Ward 2 consists of 28 beds where as a band 6 on the ward you will beresponsible for
providing leadership, expertise, advise and clinical ability.
A commitment to continuous professional development for both yourselfand the team is
essential, as this will ensure that our team has the required skills andknowledge to
deliver safe and effective care.
You will be responsible for supporting your manager in ensuring that ourservice users
need are met through the delivery of high-quality care. The secondmentwill start Decemeber until June approx..
Main duties of the job
To assist the Lead Nurse in the day to day running of the ward.
To assist the Lead Nurse in the management/leading of the ward and itsnursing
workforce.
Assisting the Lead Nurse with probationary management, incidentinvestigations,
roster management, assessing students and supporting new starters,appraisals,
audits, service improvements and initiatives.
To participate in the assessing, planning, implementation andevaluation of
individualised care for medical patients.
To assist the MDT with providing clear and concise instructions topatients
regarding treatment plans, medications, follow-up care, andself-management
strategies, promoting patient empowerment and adherence to healthcare
recommendations.
To work collaboratively with all members of the MDT to develop andimplement comprehensive care plans tailored to individual patient needs,ensuring continuity of care and effective communication acrossinterdisciplinary teams. To recognise changes in patients conditions whichrequire the intervention of others and refer on / escalate as appropriate. Toclearly present the patients point of view to others, including promoting andprotecting the interest and dignity of patients. Maintain accurate andthorough electronic patient records of patient assessments, interventions,responses to treatment, and discharge instructions. Ensure own practice isevidenced based and contribute to the development of nursing practice in ownarea.
