Overview
Location: Wiltshire Countywide (Trowbridge or Salisbury Based). A Full UK Driving License and Access to a Vehicle are essential requirements.
At Turning Point, we support people across the UK with substance use issues. As an Engagement and Prevention Worker, you will develop personal, flexible and realistic support packages to help service users turn things around, as part of a friendly and multidisciplinary team.
Role Details
This full-time, permanent position is a county-wide role; driving is essential. The role may suit someone with experience of the military combined with a social care background. Applications from ex-military personnel and spouses/partners/family are desirable. You will join the engagement and prevention team to use outreach and hub-based interventions to support serving and non-serving military personnel in reducing their alcohol and/or substance use, working with other services and veteran drop-ins to engage/support those needing the service. You will work closely with Army and veteran services to develop a robust treatment pathway. The successful candidate should be organized, focused, able to work in a team or independently, and innovative in their approach.
Responsibilities
* Provide advice and information to service users and members of the wider community.
* Promote the service to other professionals and organisations to increase referrals; attend community events to raise the profile of Turning Point in Wiltshire.
* Deliver outreach and hub-based interventions to support military personnel (serving and non-serving) in reducing risk related to alcohol and substance use.
* Collaborate with supporting services and utilise military/veterans drop-ins to engage people into services.
* Maintain and develop pathways with partner agencies; manage risks and contribute to care planning as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Deliver presentations and workshops; participate in the roaming recovery vehicle program where applicable.
Requirements & Qualifications
* Full driving license and access to a car; willingness to travel across Trowbridge & Salisbury.
* Experience in substance use and recovery settings (Engagement and Prevention Worker, Recovery Worker, Outreach Worker, or similar).
* Knowledge of relapse prevention and barriers to recovery; flexible and capable of handling a significant caseload.
* Excellent communication skills; vocational qualification such as NVQ Level 3 or equivalent preferred.
* IT skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to maintain records and communicate effectively.
* Organised, able to work in a team or independently, and adaptable in a varied role.
Salary & Benefits
Starting salary £25,116, rising each year in line with pay progression bands up to £29,383 per year (dependent on experience; higher starting salary may be offered).
