A well-established housing association is seeking a lawyer with housing litigation experience to join its legal team for the next 6 months. Your new role
You will provide legal advice on housing management matters while leading and supporting a team of four paralegals. Acting as a trusted adviser to operational colleagues, you’ll help manage legal risk and ensure cases are handled effectively.
Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Managing your own caseload of housing litigation matters (possession, ASB, disrepair, injunctions, tenancy breaches, leasehold issues, fraud, subletting and rent/service charge recovery)
2. Supervising the team's casework
3. Managing relationships with panel solicitors and monitoring legal spend
4. Delivering legal training and supporting improvements to legal processes
5. Representing the organisation in court and at external meetings
What you'll need to succeed
6. Qualified solicitor with substantial PQE in housing litigation.
7. Experience gained within a housing association, local authority, or specialist social housing practice is essential.
8. Experience supervising legal casework and supporting junior team members
9. Excellent judgement and the ability to manage risk in a practical, proportionate way
10. Strongmunication skills with the ability to influence and advise non-legal colleagues
11. A proactive, organised, and collaborative working style
Experience working in a resident‑focused or regulated environment would be advantageous.
