About the Role
Join us as a Level 6 Civil Engineering Apprentice and gain hands‑on experience supporting the UK’s largest water and wastewater provider. Work with skilled engineers on projects that drive long‑term infrastructure goals and earn a BEng (Hons) Level 6 Civil Engineering qualification to launch your career.
Responsibilities
* Assist in planning, designing, and managing civil engineering projects across Thames Water’s network
* Prepare and update engineering diagrams, documents, and specifications using tools like CAD
* Collect and analyse technical data to develop practical engineering solutions
* Ensure work meets health and safety standards, environmental regulations, and sustainability goals
* Support quality, budget, and schedule management using project systems
* Communicate and coordinate effectively with project teams, stakeholders, and customers
* Build skills in line with professional codes and industry standards
Location and Details
Location: Clearwater Court Reading – Hybrid
Hours: 36‑hour week over four working days plus one training day
Start date: September 2026
Training and qualification: You’ll study with LSBU, with one day per week of onsite training in central London and a 3‑day field trip during your first year.
Qualification achieved: BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering
Duration: Permanent contract with a 66‑month structured programme
Qualifications and Requirements
* Holds 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (grade 9‑4 / A‑C)
* Hold one of the following:
o A‑Levels with 112 UCAS points, including Maths and either Chemistry or Physics
o A T‑Level in Design, Surveying & Planning with a minimum Merit (120 UCAS points)
o A BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering with DDM including Maths and Further Maths (128 UCAS points)
o A Civil Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship with DD (96 UCAS points)
* Travel across Thames Water sites required
