We are seeking Paediatrics and Neonatology trainees at ST3 level and above, or post-CCT specialist trainees in paediatrics or neonatology, starting from September 2025. Applicants requiring an OOPE are encouraged to apply now, as applications close at the end of February 2025.
This position will be based at The Royal London site and is suitable for neonatal specialists or paediatricians with a neonatal interest, working within the tertiary neonatal and/or neonatal transport services.
The hospital is part of Barts NHS Trust, with opportunities for collaborative projects.
The successful candidate will develop educational opportunities within Neonatology, utilizing various teaching methods including simulation-based training, clinical skills sessions, lectures, teaching clinics, and bedside teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. Those interested in digital learning platforms are also welcomed.
Main duties of the job
This role offers opportunities to enhance your teaching skills and medical education interests. You will participate in creating and delivering a diverse teaching program for undergraduate medical students, postgraduate paediatric doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals at RLH. The role involves facilitating small group teaching, bedside teaching, and delivering lectures to multidisciplinary groups.
You will have the chance to collaborate across sites with other education fellows and join our Education Forum, which offers a structured development program. All fellows are encouraged to pursue a PG Cert in Education, with funding support available. For those with an existing PG Cert, there is an opportunity to undertake ILM3 (Leadership & Management Course).
The post is governed by the Terms and Conditions of Service of Hospital Medical and Dental Staff (England and Wales).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract. 40% of the time will focus on Education Delivery, and 60% on clinical work within tertiary neonates at RLH. The contract is for 40 hours per week, with minimal on-call, night, or weekend duties, as agreed prior to appointment. The banding is 1B on the MN37 pay scale.
