Position Overview
We are seeking experienced STEM professionals to create computationally intensive problems for an advanced AI evaluation project. This is a remote, project-based opportunity for experts who can design challenging problems that require computational methods to solve.
What You'll Do
* Design original computational STEM problems that simulate real scientific workflows
* Create problems that require Python programming to solve
* Ensure problems are computationally intensive and cannot be solved manually within reasonable timeframes (days/weeks)
* Develop problems requiring non-trivial reasoning chains and creative problem-solving approaches
* Verify solutions using Python with standard libraries (numpy, pandas, scipy, sklearn)
* Document problem statements clearly and provide verified correct answers
Problem Domains
Problems should span various STEM areas and computational approaches:
* Combinatorial Problems: Enumerations, probability calculations, entropy, partitions
* Numerical Analysis: Iterative methods, approximations, simulations
* Mathematical Modeling: Equation solving, optimization, statistical models
* Applied Mathematics: Graph theory, discrete mathematics, number theory
* Physics Simulations: Numerical integration, Monte Carlo methods
* Data Analysis: Statistical computations, algorithmic challenges
* Engineering Applications: Computational challenges from various engineering fields
* Chemistry & Biology: Computational problems from natural sciences
Requirements
Education & Experience
* Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM field
* Research or industry experience involving computational problem-solving
Technical Skills
* Strong programming skills in Python (numpy, pandas, scipy, sklearn)
* Solid understanding of numerical methods and computational algorithms
* Experience with computationally intensive problem-solving
Professional Skills
* Ability to design problems that mirror real scientific / engineering workflows
* Creative thinking in problem design
* Understanding of computational complexity
* Attention to detail for answer verification
* Clear technical writing skills
* Proficient in English
