We are always on the lookout for people who care about pets as much as we do! We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced full-time Veterinary Surgeon to join our team in Livingston Vets for Pets.
The full-time role is working 39.5 hours per week over 4 fixed days each week, with 1:4 weekends, Saturday 9-6 and Sunday 10-4, no OOH. The part-time role would be an adapted version, still including 1:4 weekends.
About Us
With more than 440 small animal practices across the country, of all shapes and sizes, Vets for Pets is one of the largest UK veterinary groups and offers Veterinary Surgeons a range of opportunities, including the opportunity to run your own practice. However, what really makes vets for pets a unique opportunity is that it is run locally, providing our local teams the time and opportunity to support their local community. This means you to join a team that can support your individual needs while offering you a bespoke introduction to the practice, local community and caring for our patients!
Our practice has been completely refurbished and is equipped with the latest technology. We have an impressive 9 consulting rooms, 3 operating theatres and various onsite laboratory testing. We are conveniently located within the Pets at Home store in the centre of Livingston’s retail park. We have a brilliant team of 8 Veterinary Surgeons, 9 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 1 Student Veterinary Nurse, 6 Client Care Advisors, and a Client Services Manager. We are a training practice where we support and mentor new Vet Graduates through the Vets4Pets Graduate programme as well as sponsoring and ongoing training for our SVN’s until qualified.
We aim to have a consistent 20mins standard consult duration, with 30mins for more involved consults, and 40mins for euthanasias, to help provide time to write up clinical notes.
As a growing practice we are always interested in hearing from local talent interested in working with us, because everyone is at different stages in their veterinary career, we are open to speak to anyone. So, if you are an experienced vet looking for somewhere they can mentor and lead a team or a new graduate wanting that first step on the career ladder we want to hear from you. We are not just interested in hearing from vets with our ambitious plans we want to hear from nurses wanting to expand their knowledge, student nurses looking for paid roles to gain experience and anyone wanting to enter a career in animal care interested in our veterinary care assistant or client care assistant positions

Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
