Overview
CDS Labour are recruiting an experienced Assistant Hatchery Manager to join a modern hatchery operation in the Wrexham area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with poultry, agricultural, or production management experience to take the next step in their career and play a key role in the day-to-day running of a busy hatchery facility.
Working closely with the Hatchery Manager, you will help ensure the highest standards of chick quality, animal welfare, hygiene, biosecurity, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting the management of hatchery operations, including egg intake, incubation, hatching, chick handling, and dispatch
Supervising, training, and motivating hatchery staff
Assisting with workforce planning and daily task allocation
Monitoring team performance and maintaining operational standards
Coordinating egg and chick transport activities
Ensuring compliance with health & safety, hygiene, and biosecurity procedures
Supporting maintenance and fault-finding of hatchery equipment
Maintaining accurate production and performance records
Assisting with audits and compliance requirements
Responding to operational issues and providing support outside normal hours when required
Deputising for the Hatchery Manager during periods of absence
Requirements
Previous supervisory or management experience within a production, agricultural, poultry, or manufacturing environment
Strong leadership and team management skills
Good computer literacy and record-keeping abilities
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and use initiative
Strong understanding of health & safety procedures
Poultry or hatchery experience desirable
