Overview
As an Electrical Integration Architect, you will serve as the primary technical interface between the weapon system and equipment design authorities, ensuring electrical compatibility and integrity across subsystems and suppliers. The role focuses on the integration of complex electrical equipment into the DragonFire programme, prioritizing system architecture and supplier delivery over detailed circuit design.
Responsibilities
* Act as the primary technical interface between the weapon system and internal and external equipment design authorities.
* Ensure electrical compatibility and integrity between subsystems, equipment, and overall system architecture.
* Support system‑level integration, verification, and acceptance of equipment.
* Define, manage, and mature electrical requirements across the project lifecycle.
* Own and manage Statements of Work (SOW) for equipment suppliers.
* Lead technical reviews, progress meetings, and milestone gates (PDR/ CDR, etc.) with suppliers.
* Monitor and manage delivery against cost, schedule, performance, and quality targets.
* Identify and manage technical risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies.
* Make informed decisions on re‑use vs. new design in line with programme constraints.
* Ensure compliance with relevant electrical standards, regulations, and certification requirements.
Qualifications
* Strong understanding of systems engineering and system integration in complex products.
* Experience at the system, subsystem, or equipment level in requirements definition.
* Background in electrical integration, power distribution, or equipment design (ideally in defence, aerospace, or maritime environments).
* Experience managing technical delivery packages with external suppliers.
* Familiarity with verification, validation, and certification processes.
* Ability to confidently present technical information and influence engineering decisions.
* Experience writing technical documentation and working with configuration management tools.
* Practical understanding of electrical systems (e.g., wiring, power, interfaces) even if not currently hands‑on.
Salary
Circa £48,000–£53,000 depending on experience.
Working Conditions
Dynamic hybrid working: 2–3 days per week on-site. Security clearance requirement: British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship. Candidates will undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS) managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.
Benefits
* Company bonus: Up to £2,500 (based on company performance).
* Pension: maximum total contribution of up to 14% (employer and employee).
* Paid overtime opportunities.
* Flexi Leave: up to 15 additional days.
* Flexible working arrangements welcomed.
* Enhanced parental leave: up to 26 weeks for maternity, adoption, and shared parental leave (with enhancements for paternity, neonatal leave and fertility testing and treatments).
* Facilities: subsidised meals, free car parking, and more.
* Healthcare Cash Plan: option to claim cashback on everyday health expenses (optical, dental, health and wellbeing).
The Opportunity
This role sits at the heart of the DragonFire programme, focusing on the integration of complex electrical equipment into a cutting‑edge weapon system. You will act as the technical authority for electrical interfaces between the weapon system and its equipment, ensuring that electrical design, performance, and constraints are aligned across multiple suppliers and subsystems. Rather than detailed circuit design, this role is about owning the bigger picture, bringing together electrical architecture, equipment integration, and supplier delivery to ensure a coherent, compliant, and high‑performing system.
