Job overview
The post is based in the Eating Disorders Service at The Barberry in Edgbaston. A major aspect of the role involves developing and delivering digital packages of interventions with a view of improving patients’ access to timely and high-quality psychological help and psychoeducation. This post will also provide opportunities for researching and trialling other creative ways of supporting eating disorder recovery such as use of social media or liaising with other agencies. It will therefore suit somebody with proficient IT skills and keen interest in creative use of modern technologies for health promotion. Alongside development of new materials and contributing to more innovative service delivery, this post will also involve direct clinical work. This may range from delivering aforementioned digitalised courses alongside using more traditional manual-based interventions as appropriate, according to levels of skills and experience. The post holder is likely to also co‑facilitate group programmes alongside multidisciplinary colleagues.
Being allied to the multi‑disciplinary team in the Eating Disorders Service, the post holder will act as a member of the team, attend meetings and contribute to informing patients psychological care within the team. The post holder will be closely supervised and supported by an experienced psychological professional in the Eating Disorders Service.
Main duties of the job
Under the supervision of a qualified and suitably experienced psychologist:
* To support development, delivery and evaluation of e‑learning packages for patients at various stages of their recovery. This will necessitate the substantive use of IT equipment, software and web‑based packages.
* To support development and implementation of digitalised outcome measure collection
* To be involved in researching and trialling other creative ways for health promotion and maintenance such as use of social media and linking with third sector agencies
* To support colleagues and patients in adopting new technologies and ways of working
* To also provide more traditional manual‑based cognitive behavioural interventions with clients such as guided self‑help and CBT‑T as well as other short‑term discrete pieces of psychological work as appropriate, according to levels of skills and experience.
* To take part in the facilitation of the group programme, including planning and running of therapeutic groups online and face to face
* To attend clinical reviews and other multi‑disciplinary meetings
* To attend regular individual clinical supervision
* To undertake specific duties as appointed pertaining to service governance objectives including timely record keeping, data collection and analysis, report writing and presentation.
* To undertake/contribute to teaching, training, health promotion research and related activities of the service.

Person specification
Qualifications
* An upper second class (2:1) honours degree or higher in psychology and entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
* Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.
Experience
* Experience in working with people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities
* Experience in producing digital materials for clinical or educational purposes
* Experience of delivering manualised intervention packages such as guided self‑help programme.
* Experience using Moodle or similar learning platform as a learner/teacher
Skills
* High level communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive.
* High competence with IT equipment and software packages such as MS Office and SPSS as well as web‑based applications
* Ability to keep professional boundaries and reflect on own role within therapeutic relationships
* Understanding how web‑based packages, multimedia and mobile technologies can enhance patients’ care

All successful applicants will be required to complete the Trust’s induction programme. The Fundamental (Statutory and Mandatory) training will be in an e-learning format. You will be required to complete training modules online (approx. 9-14 hours depending on post) by the end of your second week with us.
