Clinical Health Care Support Worker

We have an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Support Worker to join our team in the Preoperative Outpatients Team. If you're motivated, compassionate, and passionate about healthcare then this could be the perfect role for you. You'll be part of a proactive, friendly and dedicated team who are responsible for the management of patients awaiting their planned surgery. Main duties of the job

As a Health Care Support Worker you will help patients feel as comfortable and stress‑free as possible. You’ll work under the guidance of a healthcare professional such as a nurse and your job will vary depending on the ward you are based, but overall a typical day as a Health Care Support Worker in this role will involve:

* Recording of observations
* Carrying out ECG recordings.
* Taking blood as requested by the nursing staff.

Job responsibilities

In this role, you will work alongside our registered nurses to deliver high quality, compassionate care to our patients, based on their assessed needs. This is a busy and varied position where teamwork is essential. You’ll help balance a range of tasks that can change throughout the day, ensuring our patients and their families feel supported and safe. Your daily duties may include:

* Monitoring vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation and temperature
* Taking blood from patients as requested by the nurses and doctors
* Communicating effectively throughout the whole team.
* Carrying out ECG's
* Some administrative tasks are required so IT skills are essential.


Person Specification

* Level 3 or demonstrate equivalent level of experience
* Previous experience in healthcare

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
