Flat Roof Technician

We are currently working with a market-leading manufacturer within the construction sector to recruit a Design Technician to join their busy and fast-paced technical department. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically minded individual to play a pivotal role in supporting specification, survey, and design work for high-performance flat roof waterproofing systems.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Head of Technical, this role provides a varied workload including the analysis of technical specifications, roof survey reports, and material suitability. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing and checking technical drawings, calculations, and documentation in accordance with client requirements and industry standards.
Comprehensive training will be provided on areas such as:

Wind load calculations to confirm system fixing strength
*
Drainage design to determine outlet requirements
*
Thermal performance assessments
*
CAD drawing production for detail designs
Key Responsibilities:
*
Analyse and check incoming specification requests and technical drawings
*
Assess compatibility and suitability of waterproofing system proposals
*
Review and interpret roof survey reports and construction documents
*
Liaise with clients and technical sales teams to provide expert advice
*
Create and verify thermal, wind uplift, and drainage calculations
*
Maintain an up-to-date understanding of relevant building regulations and codes of practice
*
Provide telephone support and general technical assistance to stakeholders
*
Contribute to the team by supporting with wider departmental duties when needed
Key Requirements:
*
Construction, architectural, or technical design background (flat roofing experience highly beneficial)
*
Technically minded with a keen eye for accuracy and detail
*
Ability to interpret architectural and technical drawings
*
Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
*
Computer literate; CAD experience advantageous but not essential
*
Analytical and problem-solving mindset
*
Team-oriented and proactive attitude
*
Understanding of building fabric, codes of practice, and relevant UK regulations (e.g. Part L)
