SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary

Full job description
A welcoming primary school in Bolton is seeking a nurturing and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs across the school. This role would suit a candidate with experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, sensory needs or EHCPs, and who understands how to adapt their support to meet individual learning and emotional needs.
You will work alongside the class teacher and SENCO to deliver targeted support, encourage independence and promote positive behaviour. Current UK listings commonly emphasise supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, implementing individual support plans, adapting learning activities and encouraging emotional regulation, which is the model used here.
Key responsibilities
* Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small intervention groups
* Assist the class teacher with planning and adapting classroom tasks
* Implement EHCP targets and individual support strategies
* Encourage communication, confidence and classroom engagement
* Support pupils during transitions and less structured parts of the day
* Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to staff
* Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and positive behaviour
Requirements
* Experience supporting pupils with SEND in a school or similar setting
* A caring, patient and flexible attitude
* Good understanding of inclusive practice
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
