Higher Level Teaching Assistant (full time, temporary) Rochdale £550 - £700 per week PAYE (salary is depending on experience and/or qualifications) Start date: September 2026 The School and Role A specialist SEND and SEMH secondary school in Rochdale is seeking a committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support students aged 11–19 who require a highly tailored and supportive approach to education. In this HLTA SEND role, you will: Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects and ability levels Provide targeted support for pupils with SEND, SEMH, and additional learning needs Help students develop confidence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and SEN teams to support engagement and progress Contribute to a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HLTA or education support practitioner looking to make a real difference in special educational needs (SEN) education, with strong progression routes into teaching or specialist SEND roles. Requirements To be successful in this Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) SEND role, you will have: A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with SEND, SEMH, and additional needs Experience working in a school or alternative provision setting Confidence delivering pre-planned lessons and supporting small groups or individual learners Strong understanding of how to engage pupils who may be disengaged from education Excellent communication, behaviour management, and relationship-building skills This role suits a proactive, resilient individual who is committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning and succeed in education.
