As part of a leading UK multi-disciplinary development consultancy, Pegasus Group’s Design consultancy works on significant projects across the UK within the development industry, from large scale urban extensions and strategies for area regeneration to renewable energy and residential schemes.
This is a Director position within our Birmingham design team that collaborates with in-house planning, heritage, and urban design staff. The role requires leadership in design, project delivery, or development strategy.
The team manages projects including residential-led regeneration, strategic urban extensions, infill developments, retrofit work, and heritage schemes for private clients. All projects are context-driven and commercially informed. The ideal candidate should demonstrate creative thinking and technical precision.
Responsibilities
* Leading architectural projects from concept to completion (covering all RIBA stages), with tasks aligned to individual expertise and regional needs
* Serving as a main contact for clients, consultants, and stakeholders to establish effective working relationships
* Managing internal teams and coordinating with external partners to achieve quality standards, consistency, and timely outcomes
* Supporting business development by maintaining client relationships, networking, preparing proposals, and identifying new opportunities
* Promoting good design practices and contributing to the direction of the architecture group
* Progressing into a leadership position involving team development, mentoring junior staff, and assuming additional responsibilities
Qualifications
* Ability to collaborate as part of a team and willingness to take on leadership and client relationship management responsibilities, supported by senior staff
* RIBA Part III qualification or international equivalent; ARB registration preferred
* At least 5 years of post-registration experience in a recognised design consultancy
* Demonstrated experience across all RIBA stages, including design leadership and technical delivery
* Project experience in residential, mixed-use, commercial, regeneration, or education sectors
* Proactive approach to design and project management
* Sound understanding and application of UK building regulations and planning frameworks
* Strong communication, presentation, and leadership abilities
* Advanced proficiency in Revit; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and visualisation tools is advantageous
