An opportunity is available for a Technician (Fitting) in the Plant Centre based at Huthwaite. You will be accountable to the Operations Manager for the issuing of appropriate safety documentation and dealing with other tasks appropriate to the Technicians role. You are required to have grade AC/4-9 GCSE in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level 2 qualification in both subjects. In addition, you must hold a City & Guilds 2339 Level 2 or equivalent Level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment. Main Responsibilities addition to any approved remote-control equipment that is developed in the future. Demonstrate a full understanding of and ability to program and commission the RL27 & RL38 pole mounted switch inclusive of the application of detection settings to the F.P.I & sectionaliser options. Demonstrate a full understanding of and ability to program and commission the Nulec U series auto-re-closers inclusive of the application of protection settings. Demonstrate a full understanding of secondary switchgear protection relays such as Sepam S40, VIP 400 and Fanox in addition to any developed and approved in future. Demonstrate a full understanding of the maintenance and workshop commissioning of Voltage Regulators and CL7 controllers. Be able to interpret and apply protection and detection settings to the full range of equipment supplied to NGED (National Grid Electricity Distribution) including CCP’s (Connection Control Panels). Communicate effectively and be able to assist with queries from external suppliers and other departments across NGED including Network Design, Policy, Telecoms and Operations i.e. Planners, Technicians and Engineering Specialists. Take an active part in training of staff and apprentices as required. Demonstrate working knowledge of all ST’s relating to the Midlands Plant Centre procedures. The Ideal Candidate You must be able to work on your own initiative as part of a small team and be capable of making on the spot decisions as required. You will need good communications skills, a flexible attitude and be able to cope in pressured situations often working to tight deadlines. The successful candidate will be required to hold a Level 2 City & Guilds 2339 and if not already attained, will be required to undertake a Level 3 City & Guilds 2339. *Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.
