14 of our rights respecting ambassadors were involved in a week of assemblies to each year group followed by a visit to Southbourne Junior School where we held an assembly on children’s rights and then visited year 5 and 6 classes to speak to them about children’s rights and secondary school life. We planned and presented an assembly to each year group in the school. Most of us felt nervous that we would make a mistake or forget what to say. But when we delivered the assemblies to each year group they went really well and we explained some of the children’s rights clearly. It was quite scary but a really enjoyable experience and I have learnt that I am more confident at public speaking than I thought. When we visited Southbourne Junior School, we explained what rights are and a few facts. We also did a re-enactment and a gameshow. The children seemed to really like it. When we went back to the year 5 and 6 classes we answered questions about children’s rights and secondary school life. I felt proud that we were teaching all these children about rights and UNICEF. They also had a lot of questions about secondary school and moving up, I felt quite nervous because I didn't go to that school as a primary school but they turned out to be really nice and we definitely will have a nice new year 7 group next year. I enjoy being part of the RRSA and being able to represent our school, it was a great experience that I will remember.Mr M. CarterAssistant Headteacher
