Knowsley Council is looking for an experienced and motivated Social Worker to join our busy Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of safeguarding, screening and triaging referrals to protect vulnerable children and young people across the borough.
Based within a multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute to high-quality decision making, ensuring robust and proportionate responses to children in need of support or protection. This role offers a hybrid working model with opportunities to be both office-based and flexible.
Responsibilities
* Screen and analyse incoming referrals to determine level of need, risk, and appropriate next steps
* Identify thresholds of intervention and allocate work to the correct service pathway
* Attend and contribute to multi-agency strategy meetings
* Liaise with partner agencies including police, education, and health to gather relevant safeguarding information
* Record and maintain clear, accurate, and timely case records
* Prioritise safeguarding and the voice of the child in all decision-making
* Work in partnership with colleagues across children's services to support best outcomes
Requirements
* Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
* Demonstrable experience working in a statutory children's service, ideally including MASH or safeguarding
* Confident assessing levels of need and risk, and applying appropriate thresholds
* Skilled in multi-agency working and information-sharing
* Ability to write and present reports, including attendance at strategy discussions and child protection meetings
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and best practice including Working Together to Safeguard Children
* Excellent analytical, decision-making, and organisational skills
* Prepared to work in a fast-paced environment, with good IT literacy
* Ability to work flexibly and manage competing demands
