We seek a seasoned Distinguished Architect, Software Delivery Engineering to lead our DevSecOps practices and Developer Platform evolution across a diverse, global engineering organization. Reporting to the SVP, Engineering Excellence & Operations, this senior technical leader will drive innovation, alignment, and consistency in software build, test, security, and deployment at scale.
This role influences an engineering footprint of over 9,000 staff and contractors across all divisions and around 600 product applications. It involves co-leading our DevSecOps Center of Excellence with our GBS organization and collaborating with divisional architects and stakeholders in quality, operations, and infrastructure.
This high-impact, hands-on leadership role is suited for someone energized by complexity, outcomes-driven, and passionate about transforming software engineering through automation, platform thinking, and modern tools including GenAI.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategic Leadership: Define and drive the multi-year DevSecOps roadmap across diverse technology stacks and deployment models. Co-lead the DevSecOps Center of Excellence with GBS.
* Developer Platform Ownership: Lead design, development, and adoption of tools to enhance developer productivity and deployment velocity. Guide our GenAI strategy for software engineering, identifying high-impact use cases and delivering prototypes in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
* Common Engineering Applications: Manage a team supporting core internal platforms like data, time tracking, and APM. Provide architectural oversight and hands-on support.
* Change Agent and Influencer: Foster a culture of automation, observability, and security. Coach engineering leaders globally on modern delivery practices and shared platform investments.
* Team and Talent Leadership: Lead a small team of architects and developers, empowering others and creating scalable frameworks.
* Cross-Organizational Collaboration: Work with various teams to ensure alignment and synergy across initiatives.
* Thought Leadership: Represent the organization in strategic forums, architecture boards, and industry discussions.
Required Qualifications:
* 8+ years leading software delivery transformation or platform engineering in large, distributed organizations.
* 3+ years of leadership experience.
* Strong expertise in cloud-native design, DevSecOps pipelines, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and observability tools.
* Proven success in leading change across stakeholder groups.
* Understanding of secure software development and regulatory considerations.
* Experience with multiple programming languages and environments.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Willingness to travel internationally.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with GenAI tooling in software development.
* Familiarity with platform engineering and developer portals like Backstage.
* Experience with legacy modernization, containerization, and monolith decomposition.
* Experience in regulated environments or across varying maturity levels.
* History of leading Centers of Excellence or enterprise transformation.
* Background in building internal developer platforms, enablement, or SRE functions.
* Experience in cloud (AWS, Azure) and on-premise environments.
