Your Opportunity
Actuaries use maths and statistics to help us predict and manage risks. This helps us understand when our customers might need our support.
Our actuarial apprenticeship programme will help you learn how to analyse data, assess risks and create models to drive intelligent decision-making. You’ll work alongside expert actuaries and use your numerical, team-working, communication and interpersonal skills while working on our products, pricing or reserving.
Your role could involve:
* Figuring out risks and how much things should cost.
* Building models to predict future outcomes.
* Calculating the cost of life insurance policies based on different scenarios.
* Creating reports to share your findings.
* Ensuring everything follows the rules.
* Giving advice on smart ways to invest and plan finances.
* Keeping an eye on insurance programmes to make sure they stay strong.
What can I look forward to?
During your actuarial apprenticeship, you’ll:
* Use actuarial tools to analyse data and calculate the likelihood and costs of certain events.
* Improve your communication skills and enhance your ability to plan, prioritise, analyse, and understand the professional landscape.
* Engage in daily activities like solving problems, building and coding models, creating and editing Excel spreadsheets, analysing data, and providing insights.
* You'll also learn about mathematical concepts related to insurance. Your specific tasks will depend on your strengths and the needs of the team.
As an actuarial apprentice, you’ll complete the Level 4 Actuarial Technician apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will typically take 27 months to complete. In addition to investing in your learning, we give you time to study as well as the opportunity to put what you learn into practice.
