Are you an experienced Revenue & Benefits professional with a passion for systems, control, and service excellence? We are recruiting on behalf of a forward-thinking Revenues & Benefits Shared Service, supporting two dynamic local authorities. This senior-level contract role offers a unique opportunity to lead the systems, IT functions, controls, and support services at the heart of a high-performing shared service operation. What you'll be doing: ️ Lead the administration of core Revenues & Benefits systems, ensuring smooth operation across Council Tax, Housing Benefit, and Business Rates. Oversee system security, access controls, user permissions, and reporting functions. Coordinate system updates, testing, upgrades, and year-end processes across all platforms. Provide performance reports, contribute to audit processes, and drive continuous improvement. Manage relationships with software suppliers, internal IT, auditors, and key government agencies (e.g. DWP, VOA). Lead and support multi-disciplinary teams across sites, including customer support, visiting officers, and remote staff. Ensure full compliance with Data Protection, Gov Connect, and relevant statutory regulations. Deputise for the Head of Service and contribute to strategic service development. What we're looking for: ✅ Minimum 5 years' experience managing Revenues or Benefits services in a local authority environment. ✅ Strong understanding of Revenues & Benefits software systems and data reporting tools. ✅ Proven ability to manage large-scale upgrades, testing routines, and system changes. ✅ Experienced in team leadership, including hybrid/remote and field-based staff. ✅ Confident working with auditors, software providers, and central government departments. ✅ IRRV Technician qualification or equivalent experience is highly desirable. ✅ Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
