Buyer (Construction) – Luton
Newstaff Employment is hiring an experienced Buyer in Luton to manage procurement across construction projects, where you will source materials and services efficiently, negotiate strong supplier agreements and keep projects on schedule and within budget.
Location: Luton
Salary: £40, – £55, per annum (negotiable depending on experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Key Responsibilities
1. Manage the full purchasing process for construction materials, plant, tools and services
2. Identify and evaluate suppliers; therefore, you secure competitive pricing and reliable delivery terms
3. Negotiate contracts confidently to achieve cost savings without compromising quality
4. Monitor supplier performance and market trends so purchasing decisions remain strategic
5. Work closely with project managers to confirm material specifications and timelines
6. Maintain accurate procurement records, including pricing and supplier data
7. Ensure materials arrive on site on time to prevent project delays
8. Review procurement procedures regularly to improve efficiency and compliance
9. Resolve any supply chain issues quickly to protect budgets and build progress
Essential Skills & Experience
10. Proven experience as a Buyer within the construction sector
11. Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
12. Clear understanding of construction materials and supply chains
13. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
14. Strong analytical and organisational skills
15. Confident communicator who builds productive supplier relationships
