The Social Media Officer is responsible for managing and expanding the church's online presence across multiple platforms. This role involves community engagement, content planning, and executing social media strategies that align with church events and campaigns. The Social Media Officer will also work closely with other ministries to coordinate, create, and publish content that supports and enhances the church's mission and upcoming events. Key Responsibilities Community Engagement (Daily) Respond to comments across Instagram (both pages), TikTok, and Threads. Address questions and inquiries received in DMs, rerouting issues to relevant departments or individuals as needed. Content Repurposing (Daily) Modify and repurpose content across platforms to maximise engagement and relevance. Story Resharing (Daily) Identify and amplify user-generated content related to church activities and events, resharing as appropriate. Content Planning and Campaign Scheduling (Weekly/Monthly) Translate campaign plans into a social media schedule using management tools, keeping the team updated on weekly content releases. Plan content based on the upcoming church schedule, collaborating with location teams for ideas and inspiration. Delegate filming tasks across location teams, follow up to collect content, and schedule it for posting. Develop organic social content plans for campaigns and support paid campaign setup as needed. Content Creation and Photography (Weekly) Attend events and capture video and photo content, working directly with various church ministries. Produce quotes by preparing templates and uploading content from services. Ensure the "Life at TLC" page is consistently updated with non-tier 1 events. Take photographs at smaller ministry events as required. Platform and Content Management (Weekly) Manage social media platforms (Link Tree, stories, DMs, comments, etc.) to maintain engagement and relevance. Optimise outcomes from posted content across multiple channels. Regularly update Link Tree with current church events and manage the Social Media email. Ensure timely submission of invoices for software to Accounts. Content Editing (Weekly) Edit video reels for Instagram and TikTok. Sort, select, and edit photos from various locations for social media carousels. Reporting and Analytics (Weekly/Monthly) Monitor and report on the performance of content campaigns, collating data for insights and decision-making. Provide weekly updates on the progress of tier 1 event registrations to gauge promotional needs. Help with end-of-campaign reporting, including evaluating performance and optimising future strategies. Track social media trends and identify opportunities to expand audience reach. Liaising and Collaboration (Weekly) Coordinate with other ministries to support their event needs, including content planning, filming, editing, and posting. Work with communications colleagues to ensure media stories and campaigns reach maximum exposure across all channels. Live Streaming (Occasional) Manage live streaming sessions as needed for specific events or services. Education / Work Experience Requirements Skills and Attributes BSc Degree. 1-3 years of relevant work experience. Proven experience in social media management, preferably within a ministry or community-focused setting. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field preferred but not essential. Experience with social media scheduling tools and analytics. Strong photography and video editing skills, with experience creating content for Instagram and TikTok. Creativity and Initiative: Able to generate fresh ideas for content and campaigns that resonate with church members and the wider community. Attention to Detail: Strong eye for detail, especially in content editing and caption creation. Organisation and Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, with a collaborative spirit and willingness to work with multiple church departments. Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to changing schedules and content needs as church events and priorities evolve Commitment to Mission: Dedicated to supporting and representing the Christian values of The Liberty Church in all social media interactions. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Good IT skills, including knowledge of a range of software packages. The capacity to prioritise tasks and work under pressure.
