Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Clinical Engineering Department at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (NNUHFT) for a Band 3 Medical Equipment Assistant. The department maintains 24,000 devices in NNUHFT and Cromer Hospitals and supports equipment maintenance, repair and calibration in line with manufacturer and NHS standards.
Job Responsibilities
* Support medical equipment technicians in planned preventive maintenance, repair, calibration, evaluation, safety testing, acceptance testing and clinical support.
* Plan and organise own workload, liaise with equipment users and suppliers, and advise junior staff as required.
* Participate in the evaluation of medical equipment devices with users before purchase, and carry out acceptance testing and adaptation of equipment.
* Produce verbal and written reports including adverse incident reports, technical investigations, equipment appraisals, test, service reports and specifications.
* Travel to other health care establishments and home patients when required, using own vehicle with allowance paid.
* Maintain accurate records in the medical equipment database, produce service schedules and standard work instructions.
* Assist in maintenance of the technical library and stores, receipt and dispatching of medical equipment and spare parts.

Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in an engineering subject or equivalent experience in a hospital environment.
* Good general standard of literacy and numeracy.
* Knowledge of computer systems, e.g., Microsoft Office Applications.
Experience
Experience in NHS or customer service organisation (desirable).
Skills
* Physically able to lift heavy equipment, carry out repetitive testing and work in awkward positions.
