Role
Fair Access and Pupil Placement Officer x2. This is a key post in the School Improvement Service located in the South and East Pupil Access Teams.
Area South Pupil Access Team, based at County Hall, Preston. The South Area Team covers Preston, Chorley, South Ribble and West Lancashire and you will be prepared to travel to meetings primarily in schools throughout the area, particularly during term time.
Area East Pupil Access Team, based at Lancashire House, Accrington. The East Area Team covers Hyndburn, Ribble Valley, Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale and you will be prepared to travel to meetings primarily in schools throughout the area, particularly during term time.
Responsibilities
* Lead on the implementation and oversight of the statutory Fair Access Protocol, working closely with schools, families, and partner agencies to secure suitable educational placements and support positive outcomes.
* Develop and manage effective placement systems and contribute to multi‑agency collaboration.
* Provide advice regarding complex admissions, exclusions, and Children Missing Education cases.
* Support safeguarding, equality, and high‑quality service delivery in all duties.
Requirements/Qualifications
* Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organisational skills.
* Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and high‑quality service delivery.
* Willingness to travel to meetings across the specified areas; ability to work term time schedules as required.
* Legal entitlement to work in the UK and, if applicable, ability and willingness to use a car for work duties (driving may be restricted by disability; reasonable adjustments considered).
Other Information
You will be required to provide a car for use in connection with the duties of this post and must be insured for business use. However, we may consider you if you cannot drive because of a disability.
