Cost / Management Accountant - Redruth - £50-55,000 + Excellent benefits
Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been exclusively engaged by a long standing client, a specialist civil engineering business that has, and continues to experience an exciting journey of growth. As a result of this continued expansion, the company now seeks to recruit an experienced Cost/Management Accountant, a newly created role to be offered on a full time, permanent basis. The business may also consider candidates seeking part time working hours (minimum 30 hours per week). The role will be based at the company headquarters in the Redruth area.
Reporting to and working closely alongside a very friendly and highly experienced Financial Controller (also introduced by Trial Balance), this will be a broad and interesting opportunity where the successful candidate will assume significant responsibility for the company’s project cost controls and management reporting. Key responsibilities to include:
- Provide critical financial insights to support project decision making, operational efficiency and effective performance tracking
- Liaise closely with departments heads, senior management team and a range of external stakeholders
- Production of high quality costing reports in line with budgets and forecasts
- Develop and implement efficient costing procedures and policies
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting controls and IFRS
- Prepare the budgets and forecasts with variance analysis
- Identify opportunities to increase costing efficiencies
For this role our client is focussed on practical experience over qualification status, so we welcome applicants that are both professionally qualified (ACA/CIMA/ACCA), AAT, or qualified through vocational experience. Applicants should possess at least 4-5 years of recently gained experience with a strong emphasis on cost and/or management accounting, ideally gained within a manufacturing, construction or engineering environment, and with a good understanding of internal and IFRS controls. The company is keen to make best use of digital technology so a good understanding of modern accounting tools as well as MS Excel will be essential. This is a highly visible role that regularly liaises with employees across the business so excellent team working skills, and the ability to lead and influence will be of significant benefit.
