Job Description
Construction Public Assistant Project Manager - Staten Island, NY
1. Support Project Managers through all phases of public construction projects, including preconstruction, procurement, and project execution.
2. Assist with RFIs, submittals, buyouts, material tracking, meeting minutes, and daily documentation.
3. Help manage budgets, cost tracking, change orders, schedules, and project reporting.
4. Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, design teams, and public agency representatives.
5. Review drawings, specifications, and contract requirements to ensure compliance with public‑sector standards.
6. Support jobsite teams by resolving field issues, updating logs, and maintaining clear communication.
7. Prepare closeout documentation, punch lists, and required public‑agency paperwork.

The Successful Applicant
A successful Construction Assistant Project Manager should have:
8. 2-5+ years of experience as an APM or Project Engineer with a general contractor-public work experience is essential and required.
9. Strong understanding of public-sector workflows, documentation requirements, and compliance standards.
10. Organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks across concurrent projects.
11. Excellent communication and coordination skills with both field teams and public‑agency stakeholders.
12. Proficiency in project management software and digital documentation systems.
13. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
