If so, please consider the exciting opportunity of joining our passionate and supportive Homecare team as a Senior Pharmacy Technician, based at York Hospital but working in partnership with the multidisciplinary teams across the trust.
We are looking to recruit a Senior Pharmacy Technician who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and has excellent time management skills. The Homecare service provides a fantastic service to patients allowing them to receive and administer their medication at home. The candidate will be working with multidisciplinary teams in the trust and with Homecare providers so must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate must be organised, have excellent attention to detail and must be able to work both independently and part of a team. The candidate must be able to adapt to the changing demands of the service.
Applications are welcome from candidates interested in part time hours. Ideally a background in hospital pharmacy, but all applications are welcomed.
Main duties of the job
1. Prescription management including completion of technician checking of the prescriptions
2. Working with clinical teams to ensure a safe and efficient service is provided
3. Dealing with queries from Homecare providers
4. Implementing new Homecare services
5. Allocation of tasks and rota planning
6. Supervision of staff including completing appraisals, sickness absence reporting
7. Review and implementation of SOPs
8. Working closely with the Homecare and High-Cost Drug Manager to develop the service
9. Implementing biosimilar switches for clinical services
10. Supporting with audits and service improvements
11. Working with multidisciplinary teams

Person specification
Education
Essential criteria
20. BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences / QCF Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
21. Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
Desirable criteria
22. QCF Level 4 or above in a qualification relevant to the post.
Experience
Essential criteria
23. At least one year, post-qualification experience.
24. Supervision and mentoring of junior staff.
Skills
Essential criteria
25. Good communication & interpersonal skills.
26. Attention to detail.
27. Participated in the implementation of changes in service, products and / or systems.
28. Problem solving
29. Able to use a range of computer programmes relevant to the post
