Role Overview
This role is responsible for managing a diverse caseload of employee relations matters, including restructuring, redundancy, and TUPE, while identifying broader ER trends across the business. Acting as a trusted expert, the position provides commercially focused and legally sound ER guidance to managers, HR Business Partners, and the HR shared services team. The role requires strong collaboration, coaching, and influencing skills to help leaders reach effective solutions and understand potential risks. It also involves maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of employment legislation, contributing to ER toolkits and process improvements, and supporting consistency and self‑sufficiency across the organisation. Additionally, the role leads ER training sessions, supports formal hearings, and fosters constructive relationships with the recognised Trade Union.
Typical Day
On a typical day you will manage a range of ER cases from field engineers, technical teams, and office‑based employees, ensuring fair and consistent handling of issues across a fast‑paced operational environment. You’ll spend time advising managers on complex matters such as attendance, conduct, restructures, and TUPE, offering practical solutions that balance commercial needs with legal compliance. Collaboration is key, so your day often includes working closely with HR Business Partners, coaching managers, and supporting formal meetings or hearings. You may also contribute to updating ER toolkits, reviewing policies, and maintaining strong working relationships with the recognised Trade Union to support smooth daily operations. This role requires an experienced HR professional with a good level of autonomy to set out their own case work, plan resources, and travel nationwide to support the organisation.

* Broad and in‑depth understanding and application of UK employment legislation to the business context
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a primarily ER based role
