Overview

Inclusion Support Worker (SEMH)

* Salary: £22,604 per annum
* Hours: 32.5 per week (Mon-Fri, term time only + 5 inset days)
* Working hours: 8:50 am - 3:30 pm (Tues & Thurs until 4:30 pm for CPD, Fri 3:10 pm finish)
* Location: Deighton (currently based in Scissett but moving soon - an exciting time to join!)


Role Description

As an Inclusion Support Worker, you will do more than just support learning in the classroom — youll play a vital role in helping young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs build trust, confidence, and resilience. Youll work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and families to help pupils engage positively with their education and community.
You will support students on a 1:1 and small-group basis, helping them regulate emotions, develop life skills and access learning opportunities safely and successfully.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide tailored support to pupils with SEMH and additional needs both in and out of the classroom.
* Support students emotional regulation and promote positive relationships.
* Prepare classrooms and learning materials before lessons.
* Assist pupils with academic tasks and social development.
* Lead small group activities and individual learning sessions.
* Implement effective behaviour support strategies in line with school policy, including Team Teach and restorative approaches.
* Maintain accurate pupil records, including progress, attendance, and behaviour data.
* Promote inclusion by encouraging participation in lessons and extracurricular activities.
* Support learning both in school, in the community and occasionally in the family home.
* Communicate effectively and sensitively with pupils, parents, and staff to build strong partnerships.
* Ensure safe, consistent, and predictable learning routines throughout the school day.
* Supervise pupils during breaks, lunch and on educational visits.
* Always uphold safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.


The Ideal Candidate

* Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (business insurance required).
* Experience working in a school, care or youth setting.
* Ideally, experience supporting children or young people with SEN or SEMH needs.
* A patient, empathetic and proactive approach with strong communication skills.
* Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
* Willingness to undertake Team Teach training and further professional development.
