Overview
Park Blue Homes has an exciting opportunity for a Therapeutic Children’s Home Registered Manager to join our company in the Swindon area.
This is a unique leadership role responsible for the day-to-day running of the Home, ensuring safeguarding of children and staff, supervising and mentoring team members, and handling other operational tasks related to managing the Home.
Salary and Benefits
Salary: £50,000 per annum, including bonuses, pension, and other benefits. 35 days annual leave including bank holidays. Other benefits include a laptop, mobile phone, and some remote working.
Responsibilities
* Manage, coordinate and develop a range of quality therapeutic services for young people that live at the Home, ensuring the Home exceeds all standards as stated in the Children’s Home Regulations 2015 and all other relevant legislation.
* Promote relationships as central to the working practice of the Homes, taking an empathetic and engaging approach to working with young people, their families, professionals, and other agencies.
* Provide effective, empathetic, and dynamic leadership; promote team development and effective teamwork; support staff wellbeing and reflect on the impacts of vicarious trauma.
* Lead reflective practice and ensure that the Statement of Purpose and all statutory and relevant paperwork reflect therapeutic practice; implement forward-thinking recording methods.
* Coordinate and organise an efficient staff rota, ensuring adequate back-up resources and participation in an out-of-hours on-call rota when necessary.
* Ensure all team members receive meaningful supervision and encourage the application of therapeutic approaches in practice and paperwork.
* Identify and support staff needing additional development; participate in recruitment, grievance, disciplinary, wellness and other staffing matters with support from the operations team.
* Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations, including fire, medication, vehicles and premises; manage finance budgets, control, administration and records.
* Promote and implement the company’s policies and procedures with a trauma-informed, attachment-based approach.
What Are the Qualifications?
* Must have experience in Residential Children’s Social Care with a minimum of two years’ experience, ideally as a deputy or senior member of staff.
* Understanding of Trauma Informed Care; working knowledge of PACE or willingness to learn.
* Strong leadership and effective communication skills with a nurturing approach and strong interpersonal skills.
* Hold a Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Residential Childcare/Health and Social Care Children’s Workforce (or equivalent) OR NVQ Level 5 in Residential Childcare or equivalent, or be willing to work towards within two years.
* Must have at least one year of experience in a management or supervisory role; ability to pass Ofsted Fit Person Interview; UK Driving Licence.
* Knowledge of The Children’s Home Regulations and related legislation; ability to set boundaries and uphold policies and procedures.
* Clear DBS and positive references from all previous employers dealing with children or vulnerable adults.
