Job Summary

* The SEN Co‑ordinator will support the delivery of statutory Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) services within the local authority.
* Working across the Statutory Assessment Team and Pre‑14 Annual Review Team, the post holder will coordinate Education, Health and Care (EHC) processes, ensuring children and young people receive timely, high‑quality support.
* The role involves close collaboration with schools, families, and partner agencies to ensure compliance with statutory frameworks and positive outcomes for children aged 0–14.


Key Duties / Accountabilities (Sample)

* Coordinate and manage Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments in line with statutory timescales.
* Draft, review, and amend Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to ensure clarity, accuracy, and quality.
* Manage the Annual Review process for children aged 0–14, ensuring all statutory requirements are met.
* Act as a key point of contact for families, schools and partner agencies, providing guidance and support.
* Liaise with education, health and social care professionals to gather advice and ensure coordinated planning.
* Monitor case progress and ensure timely completion of assessments and reviews.
* Ensure compliance with the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice 2015.
* Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date case records and documentation.
* Support the resolution of queries, disputes, or appeals relating to EHCPs where required.
* Contribute to service improvement and ensure a child‑centred approach is embedded in all work.


Skills / Experience

* Experience working as an SEN Case Co‑ordinator or within SEND services, ideally in a local authority.
* Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice.
* Experience drafting and reviewing EHCPs.
* Understanding of statutory assessment and annual review processes.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a high-volume caseload.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners.
* Good attention to detail and ability to produce high‑quality documentation.
* Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.
* Competent IT skills and experience using case management systems.

* Location: Enfield Council (Civic Centre) – hybrid working available.
