Job Description:
Job Purpose
Within a clear and established teaching programme, contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by undertaking a range of teaching, assessment, and administrative duties, principally at undergraduate level, to further the understanding of key course topics and assist students in drawing out key learning points from course materials.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Contribute to the planning, organisation, and delivery of undergraduate teaching.
2. Deliver a range of teaching and assessment activities directed towards the delivery of subjects at undergraduate level.
3. Participate in course administration duties, including communication, marking, assessment, and feedback.
4. Assist with the development of teaching materials to meet learning objectives.
5. Support the use of learning technologies like Moodle and other IT tools for course delivery and assessment.
6. Apply specialist knowledge to meet the needs of diverse learners, promoting participation and outcomes.
7. Participate in assessment processes and provide timely feedback to students.
8. Supervise student projects, dissertations, and practical work, advising on skills and methods.
9. Engage in professional development activities.
10. Perform other duties as required by the Head of School.
11. Contribute to enhancing the University’s international profile.
Qualifications:
* Honours degree (SCQF Level 10) relevant to the teaching area or expertise in a relevant field, with understanding of teaching principles.
* Registered for and working towards a PhD (MPhil/PhD) or PGT qualification in a relevant subject.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* Expert knowledge of the subject area.
* Experience supporting undergraduate or postgraduate students in various learning environments.
* Experience supervising, mentoring, or teaching students in practical settings.
* Relevant administrative experience.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Proficiency with IT and relevant software for teaching and learning.
* Ability to work independently and in a team.
* Ability to meet deadlines.
* Commitment to the university’s values and professional behaviors.
