JOB TITLE: Teacher - Primary
REPORTS TO: Principal
PROFESSIONAL DUTIES OF A TEACHER
Regulations: Teachers’ (Terms and Conditions of Employment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1987, Schedule 3, Regulation 5
General Professional Duties
A teacher who is not a principal shall perform professional duties as required, including:
* Carrying out duties under the reasonable direction of the principal or employing authority;
* Performing particular duties as assigned by the principal or employing authority, including planning, teaching, assessment, and pastoral care;
Specific Responsibilities:
* Planning and preparing courses and lessons;
* Teaching and assessing pupils;
* Promoting pupils' progress and well-being;
* Providing advice and guidance to pupils;
* Communicating with parents and external agencies;
* Participating in staff development and training;
* Maintaining discipline and safeguarding health and safety;
* Participating in examinations and assessment activities;
* Contributing to management activities and school administration;
* Adhering to working hours and providing cover as required;

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Notes to Applicants: Demonstrate how you meet each criterion on your application. Shortlisting will be based on the criteria listed below.
Section 1 - Essential Criteria:
* Qualified to teach in grant-aided schools in Northern Ireland; evidence required at application deadline;
* Minimum three years’ teaching experience at Key Stage 1, including experience with SEN, ASD, and learning difficulties;
* Experience with digital media and technology in teaching;
* Registered with GTCNI before appointment;
Section 2 - Additional Essential Criteria (to be assessed at interview):
* Knowledge of Northern Ireland Curriculum, safeguarding, SEND Code of Practice, assessment methods, and digital tools;
* Effective classroom management, inclusive teaching skills, teamwork, and communication skills;
* Alignment with school values and ethos.
Section 3 - Desirable Criteria:
* Experience supporting staff/parents in SEN;
* Monitoring pupil progress, additional SEN qualifications.
